Dr. Kim is a board-certified periodontist serving Diamond Bar, Chino, North Orange County area, California  with a practice specializing in  dental implants,  missing tooth replacement, gum disease and periodontal therapy. Dr. Kim is uniquely qualified, holding board-certification in periodontics as well as in implant dentistry.

Dr. Jin Y. Kim is a dental specialist in the diagnosis and treatment of problems affecting the gum and bone around your teeth. Periodontal problems can weaken the support for your teeth, and can also negatively affect your health, comfort, function or your appearance. Our goals are to help you to have healthy gums and bone around your teeth and/or implants throughout your lifetime.

Dental Implant is a medical device that replaces a lost tooth.  

Losing your teeth starts a chain of events that can have dire physical and cosmetic consequences. The most obvious result is a gap in your smile. Less obvious is the loss of chewing function and the inability to eat a complete diet that can result from tooth loss. While these are certainly serious issues, a potentially bigger problem lies hidden beneath the surface: bone loss.

Your jawbone needs the chewing action of the teeth to stimulate it and keep it strong. Otherwise it will begin to disappear (atrophy) in the same manner that the unused muscles beneath a cast supporting a broken bone get smaller. Without the support of your teeth and facial bones, your face will begin to look prematurely aged. The good news is that tooth replacement with dental implants offers a solution to help prevent bone loss.

Jenny had lost a lower bicuspid tooth due to long standing periodontal disease. A single implant was placed into the site where the tooth was lost. This implant was eventually restored with an 'abutment' and a porcelain-metal 'crown.'

Dr. Kim installed as the President of Western Society of Periodontology (WSP) - January 2011

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Dr Kim starts his term as president of the prestigeous Western Society of Periodontology (WSP) in January 2011. The term is for one year, and an a ceremony in Las Vegas in October 2010, he is seen in this photo receiving the gavel from 2010 WSP President, Dr. Bruce Houser, of Arizona. The society has a 75 year history, and is a unique professional group that opens its membership to specialist periodontists, general dentists, as well as dental hygienists, and the emphasis of the group is coordinated team-approach in dental care to benefit the patient. The society has more than 450 members across the 13 western states of USA, and aborad. Annual Scientific Sessions are held in Las Vegas each fall, and Dr. Kim will be speaking at the 59th Annual Meeting in September 2011.
